Happy Valentine’s Day, Lovers and Friends and grandmothers … Or, as they say in France, Joyeuse Saint Valentin! We in the US know how we celebrate Valentine’s Day: sentimental card first, always with a picture of a heart; styrofoam-tasting candy hearts with the little words on them, maybe; flowers; an elegant (though generally overpriced) dinner out;… more »
This week, we’re starting a new series, one geared to bringing us back to the original mission of And So It Goes: to encourage curiosity in cultural differences and in the process come to know ourselves better. Over the next few weeks, we’ll hear from seven women who, I hope, will help us see ourselves anew. Here they are,… more »
Alpha mom is away at summer camp this week, so it’s me, Sasha, back again to cover for her. And I’ve been given carte blanche — literally. I can write about anything I want. She was planning to write about summer camp — it’s a music camp, in the woods somewhere in New Hampshire — and… more »
We’re taking a long, slow look at bias — that set of unconscious attitudes or stereotypes that inform our behavior without our being aware — this week. How often do you redecorate? I mean, how long can one live with that red shag carpeting that we so loved once upon a time?
So it is with websites. I've learned.
As technology changes, so too must our virtual living rooms. And today's post is about how mine got its new look.
Web-wise, my website is my home. It's the place where I have my most precious possessions. Unlike any of the other social media sites, my website is MINE; I own it. It is the place that I can truly call my own. And, it's where I feel most comfortable. Home.
I loved my first website. more »
One of my favorite blog posts was the one last February on the breastfeeding moms and their school aged breastfeeding kids. Yup, you can read it again by clicking here. One reason I enjoyed writing that so much was that it brought me one of those gasping “Oh no” moments, the kind I write about in my memoir, At Home on the… more »
